The fetal pigs (for the dissection) and microscope slides were ordered from Carolina Biological Supply about a week before I needed them in my classroom. The 3 pigs & 3 slides that I ordered were delivered to my home address fairly quickly (3-5 days). One slide showed an onion cell undergoing mitosis and the other 2 slides were of plant and animals cells that could be used to compare & contrast their structural components under the microscopes. Mitosis, plant cells, and animals cells were all important topics that the students were previously tested on and needed to recall for their upcoming STAAR exam.
The 3 fetal pigs were 10-12" in length and came preserved in formaldehyde. The package also included a dissecting tray, dissecting tools, and a step-by-step pig dissection manual for the students to use.
